The first story Kilah ever wrote was about a little dog who escaped a dog pound. She was four years old but the theme of breaking free from what confines us, remained.

Twenty years later, Kilah found herself working at a high kill animal shelter in Arkansas. Not many little dogs escaped from that place. However, as the social media manager and photographer, Kilah began to see a beauty that thrived in such a sad place.

Kilah’s stories are always seeking to bring us the harsh truths of life through a fresh perspective. Whether it be a hand painted sympathy card cherishing your final goodbye to a pet, a written story or even a fun taxidermy puppet show, Kilah wishes for us to embrace our haunting yet beautiful reality.
