The first story Kilah ever wrote was about a little dog who escaped a dog pound. She was four years old and though the story has been lost, the theme of breaking free from what confines us, remained.

Twenty years later, Kilah found herself working at a high kill animal shelter in Arkansas. Not many little dogs escaped from that place. However, as the social media manager and photographer, Kilah began to see a beauty that thrived in such a sad place.

Kilah’s stories are always seeking to bring us the harsh truths of life through a fresh perspective. Whether it be a hand painted sympathy card cherishing your final goodbye to a pet, a written story or even a fun taxidermy puppet show, Kilah wishes for us to embrace our haunting yet beautiful reality.
